Our entire staff is highly qualified and all massage therapists attended a top-rated school.
They are licensed, and certified.

Each therapist has what we call a "specialty". For example, if you are experiencing lower back pain, we will match you with a therapist who can best address this discomfort. If you are a golfer and are experiencing shoulder pain, we can place you with a therapist who specializes in shoulder issues.

We approach each client's needs on an individual basis. By focusing on those specific needs, it is not unusual for us to hear our clients say, "That was the most amazing massage I have ever had.

We believe everyone should be able to take advantage of the wonderful therapeutic and stress relieving benefits of massage therapy. We are committed to ensuring that every time you visit, you enjoy a caring and healing experience provided by a professional massage therapist. If you have not received a professional massage session, we thought it would be helpful for you to know what to expect on your first visit.

Meet and Greet

Once you arrive at fourRiver Holistic Therapy our front desk will greet you and ask you to fill out a Client Information Form.

The Client Information Form is where you record any medical history, Medications, list past or present injuries and other physical conditions we should be made aware of. Your massage therapist will greet you and review the Client Information Form with you. They will inquire about the reason(s) you are coming for a massage, your current physical condition and any specific areas in which you are experiencing pain or would like addressed during your massage.

 The Treatment Room

Your massage therapist will then take you to a peaceful, relaxing treatment room where a comfortable massage table dressed with a warming blanket and crisp clean sheets awaits. A small shelf for your personal belongings and a chair are also provided for your use. Your massage therapist will leave the room and wait outside while you disrobe to your level of comfort. Some clients prefer to completely disrobe, while some will remain partially clothed. Once disrobed, you will lie on the massage table, under the top sheet. Your massage therapist will give you a few minutes for this process and will knock on the door to ask if you are ready before entering your room.

You will always be draped with the top sheet and blanket during your massage session. Your massage therapist will only uncover the part of the body they are working on, ensuring that your modesty is respected at all times.

You can expect a tranquil and comfortable environment during your massage. The massage table is heated, which we will adjusted to your preference.

During the massage, the therapists will check on your comfort. You lie face up for the first half of your massage and face down for the second half of the massage. A face cradle and bolsters are provided for your comfort.

If you have special needs, please inform the therapist.

Talking during the session is limited so you can fully relax into the massage.   fourRiver Holistic Therapy uses only the highest quality hypo-allergenic massage creams and lotions during your treatment.

 Couples Massage

Whether you're needing a romantic getaway or simply treating yourself to an indulgent spa session, a couples massage is a great way to relax and rejuvenate both you and your loved one. Despite the suggestive name, couples massages aren't just for couples. Friends and family members can also enjoy this invigorating experience together. Couples massage is one of the hottest services in the Spa industry right now. Two people are massaged in the same room, at the same time, by two different therapists.

What Happens During Couples Massage?

Couples massage takes place in a couples suite. At the very least this is a room large enough for two massage tables. As for couples massage etiquette, it's fine to talk to each other through the massage if you want, or be quiet the whole time. It's really up to you.

What Are the Benefits of Couples Massage?

Couples massage is a great way to introduce a partner who has never gotten a massage before in a way that makes them feel more comfortable the first time. Some men are apprehensive about getting a massage because of the nudity involved, and to have their wife or girlfriend there is reassuring. Men usually discover that therapeutic touch is very relaxing and restorative. Once they experience a couples massage, they are more willing to book a massage on their own. It can also be a good choice if you're traveling with someone you don't get to see often enough -- a sister, girlfriend, mom or best friends -- and you want to spend as much time together as possible.

 Deep Tissue Massage

A deep tissue massage is used to release tension and built-up pressure in the deep muscle tissues of your body. It focuses on specific areas of your body that are tight, stressed or fatigued and is often used to combat scar tissue that can be painful and injurious to your body.

This type of massage uses slow, deliberate movements and deep pressure from the fingers onto a specific area. Deep tissue massage is known for feeling uncomfortable or even painful during and right after massaging, (That is why we ease into it) but releases great amounts of muscle tension, leaving you feeling great within a couple of days.

 Sports Massage

Our sports massage is geared toward the weekend warrior or world class athletes. If you are suffering from muscle stiffness or arthritis, our sports massage techniques can be beneficial in unlocking the strained muscles.

The slow stroking of the affected muscle area and the frequent pressure with or against the muscle fibers helps loosen up the tissues, providing enhanced movement. This is a boon for athletes who usually end up over using their body muscles.

A unique and highly personalized full body massage in which the massage therapist uses a variety of strokes and techniques that are customized to the guest's needs.   Excellent for the first time massage experience. Light to medium pressure is applied.

This massage is soothing and safe for both the mommy-to-be and baby alike. Feel the relief of muscles, joints, and circulation as we pay special attention to your lower back, legs, and feet. Those who are in their first trimester or experiencing a high risk pregnancy must consult with their physician before scheduling this service.

 Prenatal Massage

Massage during pregnancy offers undeniable physical benefits throughout every   prenatal stage.   Research has shown that women who receive massage while pregnant may have easier deliveries, a reduced chance of post-partum depression, and regain their bodies more quickly. In most cases, massage is perfectly safe and can help the mother-to-be relieve general body aches, pains, and tension that her body is going through while also feeling pampered at the same time.

Each trimester bring its own issues, which can be helped with massage, but throughout the whole pregnancy, benefits include:

  • Stimulating blood flow (may prevent anemia)
  • Increase muscle tone and flexibility (alleviating muscle cramps and spasms)
  • Stimulates lymphatic system (may help prevent/reduce edema)
  • Relieve headaches
  • Help alleviate morning sickness
  • Reduce fatigue
  • Alleviate backaches and leg cramps
  • Enhance sleep
  • Alleviate ligament pain
  • Relieving aches and pains
  • Alleviate stress on weight-bearing joints
  • Learn relaxation skills

Positioning During the Massage

While receiving a pregnancy massage, you are positioned on your side using specially designed bolsters and pillows to allow the therapist access to your back and anything else that you would normally have massaged if lying flat. No matter the position, you will always remain properly draped except for the area being massaged.
